I really repent... !!

This is incident of 1986.I was studying my 11th class in Govt. College Dharamshala and used to travel in State Corporation bus on student concessional pass. There are two different routes from my native place Nagrota to Dharamshala but I always preferred to go via Kangra in Arth-Nagri -Kangra-Dharamsha routed bus. Usually govt employees were the co passangers. But that day one smart middle aged gentleman got into the bus and shared the seat beside me. As vehicle reached the Education Board toll tax stop I got up to climb down, "where is sainik board office ", the gentleman asked in rough heavy tone. You have to get down here only I said with a smile and in a polite voice. The gentleman almost pushed me and rushed towards the door as if he had to extinguish some fire. I was little shocked by his weird behavior but nodded my head to cool down and forget that strange creature. I too got down after allowing group of girl students first. Bus moved in first gear spreading lot of smoke with a peculiar smell which I liked to smell and inhale. As I started to move my eyes found a purse lying on the road. I looked here and there and found nobody noticing me so I picked the purse and put it in my side pocket. My heart started beating fastly. By nature I was never greedy and dishonest but that expensive looking wallet had induced these properties in me. I kept walking fast and silently till I reached college road. After careful gaze in all directions I took out the purse from my pocket and examined it properly. Brand new blue notes which amounted approximately five thousand rupees made me crazy as I got fifty rupees pocket money per month from my school teacher father. For few minutes I dreamt of utilizing these rupees for purchasing English willow bat and cricket kit which was my biggest hobby. Then I thought whose wallet this could be. The man can be single earning member of a family like my father, thinking so I examined the purse again and found the passport size photograph of the same gentleman who had pushed me back to get down the bus. I again moved back and went into the Sainik board building and saw the man sitting on the chair busy reading the news paper. Uncle, found your purse on the road , I said to him. The man at once got up from the seat and grabbed the purse from my hand staring at me with burning eyes as if I had stolen it. After examining and counting his rupees he put the purse in his back pocket said to me, why don't you leave now. OK I murmured and came back cursing that wicked man who in spite of thanking me uttered insulting words. I still repent my decision of returning that wallet to such a ruthless and nonsense man.
